We need projects. How often do we find ourselves surrounded by like-minded friends, unable to be more creative than going to bars or watching movies? How much potential lies in a few people with a few hours to spare? Doing the same thing repeatedly is only fun if you’re stoned; and if doing the same thing were an effective means of change, society would have changed a long time ago. Whether we’re working to improve our communities, or simply looking for a good time, we need to be creative. This page offers options for both:

Direct action means taking our communities into our own hands. If we decide to assume responsibility for our conditions, we can no longer rely on institutions to take care of us. By acting directly, we can create communities that truly mirror the character of their members.
Social Disruption
We used to sit around talk about how there had to be more. Weed clouds rolled around us, bringing tranquility to the ambiance of horror flick death cries. The late hour meant responsible citizens were motionless in bed, resting for another day. We could see their houses: neat and clean, with a lamp left on in the living room to deter imagined burglars. All we could do is ask what the point was. What audacity it required to go to sleep asking for a new day if one had done nothing to relish the day already given. We could spend our time like they did, caught in lifestyle inertia, spending day after day engrossed in routine. But we knew there had to be more.
But what did ‘more’ mean? Where were we going to find it? All we knew is that we were afraid, afraid that their routines would become our routines and that day by day life would lose its mystery. So we set out with one goal: to break the routine. To live attuned to the creative spark, to follow our inspirations wherever they led us. To concern ourselves with the process of turning our lives into pieces of art and give no consideration to where we might end up. Creativity meant meaningful departures from monotony, for no reason other than to see what ‘more’ might look like.
At the very least, we would have fun. At most, we would glean something deeper, touch life’s mysteries and wrap ourselves in them. We would create art and we would be art. We would force ourselves to flee so far from convention that our abandon would shake those who witnessed our efforts. We would break the routine.
