Evidence that society isn’t trying to make sense

This didn’t make any sense to me until I watched it for the fifth time and noticed the huge Mentos ads in the background. I guess I should change the title of this post to “evidence that society is run by companies,” but that might be want for subtlety.

But seriously, don’t we have better things to do?

You mean to tell me you’ve not seen this sort of activity before?

Turns out, Mentos dropped in a Coke bottle will fizz like mad. It has been on the ‘net for a few years now (Mythbusters even did a “why do Mentos react like this?” episode). Given that fact, it seems that Mentos and Coke are the exactly the companies that *would* sponsor something like this.

You were awfully quick to lash out at companies. Are you prowling for atrocities to attribute to the monolithic evil of the Corporation, or is this more simply a knee-jerk reaction to advertising?

    The latter.

I was really curious about why 1,360 got together to do that, but are hard pressed to get together to do seemingly more important stuff.

the really important stuff doesn’t pay as well

But we’re talking about 1,360 Belgian volunteers.

I suppose the coordinators got paid, and that’s a big part of it.
